The Chronology
1954 - The first centennial of the foundation of the Firm is celebrated and for the occasion Fratelli Alinari publishes "Fratelli Alinari Istituto di edizioni artistiche Firenze centenario della fondazione 1854-1954". Alinari has four shops, in Florence, Rome, Naples, Milan.

1958 - The Brogi photographic fund of around 46,500 plates is acquired.

1960
- The Anderson photographic fund of around 30,000 plates is acquired.

1961 - The Chauffourier (9,500 plates) and Fiorentini (5,360 plates) photographic funds are acquired. The pictures directly relating to the photographic production of the Alinari number around 100,000. Together with the previously acquired archives, they all now form the most important collection in the world of pictures on glass-plate negatives (around 200,000) regarding the history and art of Italy.

1966 - Damage to the Alinari firm is minor in the great Arno flood of that year. A few negatives from the Fiorentini archives are lost and the shop, later reopened in 1967, is destroyed.

1976 - The first of the 28 volumes of the Biblioteca dei Disegni edited by Ulrich Middeldorf is published. It is the most important collotype work of Italian art in the world and is produced by the Art Printworks. It will be terminated in 1984 with the publication of the General Index of the Biblioteca dei Disegni.

1977 - Senator Cini dies. The highly successful historical exhibit of photographs, the first of its kind in Italy, in the Forte Belvedere in Florence brings Alinari to the attention of the general public.
