Sunday December 1, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Limonaia di Villa Bardini in Florence (Costa San Giorgio 2, 50125 Florence), the Alinari Foundation presents the demonstration of the wet collodion photographic technique.
In collaboration with the Fotonomia aps Association, with the support of the Fondazione CR Firenze.
Event open to everyone. Registration is not required.
For those participating in the workshop, admission to Villa Bardini is free.
As in an ancient photography studio, wet collodion portraits will be created, a technique popular between 1851 and 1880. Every phase of the process, from shooting to printing, will be meticulously reproduced: the use of the optical bench, posing, sensitizing the plate, shooting, developing, fixing, and finally varnishing will be demonstrated. The procedure authentically replicates the historical technique, offering a unique experience in the recovery of an ancient photographic art.
The activity is made possible by the contribution granted by the General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutions of the Ministry of Culture.
Special thanks to Villa Bardini for their hospitality.
