We are pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition Nuova Generazione. Sguardi contemporanei sugli Archivi Alinari, a project by CAMERA and Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia, curated by Giangavino Pazzola and Monica Poggi, at the Project Room of CAMERA - Turin, from October 19, 2023, to February 4, 2024.

The project, aimed at increasing the public photographic heritage by commissioning four young artists to create new works, is the winner of the Strategia Fotografia 2022 call for tenders promoted by the Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Matteo de Mayda, Leonardo Magrelli, Giovanna Petrocchi and Silvia Rosi created projects that, starting from the Alinari collections, explore the theme of archives as fundamental repositories of stories to be examined and expanded upon. Through a comparison of historical and contemporary images, the exhibition reflects on the current function of collections and on the various artistic practices that are developing today, starting precisely from archives, whether public or private. The works created by the four artists will become part of the Alinari collection.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue containing essays by the project curators and reproductions of all the works on display.
