With these volumes, each one dedicated to a geographical area of the region of Tuscany, Alinari has desired to carry out for the first time an articulated project of analysing the territories through photography, in particular reconstructing â€" in a constant comparison between past and present â€" the specific identity of these 'subregions'. A publishing series of great interest, both for the scientific contents of a geographical, historical and artistic nature, and also for the rich photographic display, the result of vast and widespread iconographic research carried out at both the Alinari Archives and also in many public and private collections. Furthermore, it was an opportunity to visit and re-discover in local photographic souvenirs, from families to businesses, important documentary testimonies of genuine veracity for the narration of these commemorative, folkloristic, private moments that constitute the history of a territory and its people. A 'History' of a land by means of a land by means of the pictures scanned by its days, but also a chronicle of its development, of its present life, thanks to the realisation by the Alinari Archives of new photographic campaigns specially commissioned to famous photographers for this seies.
