René was born in Germany – Cologne and Radka is from Czech Republic – Prague. They have been living and working together in Paris since 2001.
René & Radka used to play with the critical moment where past and future collide, giving us the impression, like a premonition, that something was about to happen. Here again their photographs depict people on the cusp: water is an equal force of life and death.
The catalogue “Dreams and Shadows” presents a selection of photographs from the two last works of René & Radka: “Come play with us” and “Under water”.
René and Radka have been collaborating with numerous magazines worldwide. Their fashion editorials and personal works appeared in magazines such as Vogue Nippon, French, Citizen K, Wound, Milk, Squint, Tusch, Beaux Art, L´oeil, Photo, onnaissance des art and Art actuel. On the advertising market Rene and Radka signed campaigns for labels like Adidas with David Beckham, Kenzo, Absolute Vodka, Aston Martin, Miss Sixty and Energie.
After several advertising campaigns and collaborations with fashion magazines, they come to the word of art first taking part in some collective artshows and then with their first solo exhibition “Moonage daydream” in 2006 in Berlin followed by “Come and play with us” in 2007 and “Under Water” in 2009 in Paris.
The largest part of their work is concentrated on fashion photography and art photography of children.
René and Radka attended, with a big success, to Art Paris, Show off and Paris Photo in Paris in 2008/2009.
On May 2009 they took part in the New York Photo Festival with the collective exhibition “I don’t really know what kind of girl I am” curated by Jody Quon, photography director of the New York Times Magazine.
