The painting was probably part of the Spanish Royal Collection, captured at Vitoria in 1813 during the Peninsular War. It was originally catalogued as Caravaggio, but subsequently thought to be by Grammatica

Airship hangars, RAF Cardington, Bedfordshire,c2010. No 1 shed was built in 1915 by Short Brothers to build two airships for the navy. After the First World War the site became the Royal Airship Works and No 1 shed was extended and enlarged in preparation for the R101 project. No 2 shed was brought from Norfolk and re-erected here in 1930. The sheds were later used for constructing barrage balloons

Aust Services, Aust, South Gloucestershire, 1971. Large service station at the English end of the Severn Road Bridge, serving the former route of the M4 motorway. The motorway opened in 1966 and was the main arterial route to South Wales for 30 years. The service station closed after the opening of the Second Severn Crossing in 1996 but has been replaced on a new site called Severn View Services

The large rectangular building with the green roof in the centre of the picture is Smithfield Market. Further toward the river is the familiar dome of St Paul's Cathedral. The commercial heart of the capital employs somewhere in the region of half a million people, of whom only about 8000 actually live in the city
