1936, 19 june, NEW YORK, USA : The german World Champion Heavyweight boxeur MAX SCHMELING (1905 - 2005), a real popular hero in Nazist hera. Schmeling was heavyweight champion of the world between 1930 and 1932. His two fights with Joe Louis in 1936 and 1938 were worldwide cultural events because of their national and racist associations. In this photo at time of match with american boxeur Joe Louis (1914 - 1981) at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York, the day 19 june 1936, and won by Schmeling. Louis (at LEFT SIDE in this photo) was down in the 4th and 12th rounds. Proclamed 1936 Fight of the Year by The Ring Magazine.
