The russian painter and stage designer LEON BAKST (1866 - 1924) of BALLETS RUSSES by Sergei Diagilev. Born as Lev (Leib) Rosenberg, he was also known as Leon (Lev) Nikolayevich Bakst. "Bakst" is his pseudonym derived from his grandmother's family name, Bakster (Baxter).
