1912 ca, NEW YORK, USA : The german-born american jewish old Doctor ABRAHAM JACOBI (1830 - 1919) with his son-in-law Professor George McANENY (1869 - 1953). Jacobi was a pioneer of pediatrics, opening the first children's clinic in the United States. To date, he is the only foreign-born president of the American Medical Association. He helped found the American Journal of Obstetrics, when was in England became a close friend of Karl Marx and Friederich Engels and in 1857 Jacobi was involved in founding the New York Communist Club. George McANENY marry Marjorie Jacobi (the only one daughter of Abraham Jacobi and his wife Mary Putnam Jacobi, also a famous physician). McAneny was a newspaperman and municipal reformer, was Manhattan Borough President from 1910 to 1913, President of the New York City Board of Aldermen from 1914 to 1916, and New York City Comptroller in 1933. He also served as executive secretary of the New York City Civil Service Commission, secretary of the New York Civil Service Reform League (1894 - 1902), and executive manager of The New York Times (1916 - 1921)
