1908, july, NEW YORK, USA : The wife of airplane pioneer HENRI FARMAN ( born Henry, 1874 1958) in his hotel room during a travel in USA (from july to september) for Farman's planes exibithion in Brighton Beach in search of americans financial investors in his emprise. Farman was an Anglo-French pilot, aviator and aircraft designer and manufacturer with his brother Maurice Farman. In 1907, Farman set a speed record of 52 km h and in 1908 he piloted the longest flight at the time of 1 minute 28 seconds. Both these feats were achieved in a Voisin-Farman biplane. His family was British and he took French nationality in 1937. The Farman Aircraft company's Goliath was the first long-distance passenger airliner, beginning regular Paris-London (Croydon Airport) flights on 8 February 1919. He was made a chevalier of the French Légion d'honneur ( Legion of Honour) in 1919. He, along with Maurice, retired in 1937 when the French Popular Front government nationalised the aircraft industry; Farman's company becoming part of the Societe Nationale de Constructions Aeronautiques du Centre
