1937, june, FRANCE: The italians Anti-Fascist brothers CARLO ROSSELLI (1899-1937)- left in the photo-and NELLO ROSSELLI (1900-1937). Carlo was a political leader, journalist, historian and anti-fascist activist, first in Italy then abroad in France.Rosselli founded the anti-fascist militant movement Giustizia e Libertà. In June 1937 Carlo Rosselli and his brother Nello Rosselli visited the French resort town of Bagnoles-de-l'Orne. On 9 June the two were killed by a group of" cagoulards", militants of the" Cagoule", a French fascist group, on the orders of Benito Mussolini via Costanzo Ciano and the Italian Fascist Secret Service (OVRA). Carlo was shot and mutilated. All happened in a forest, the brothers Rosselli had been taken for a ride in gangstern style, shot in the back and thrown from a car.
