1907, BOLOGNA, ITALY: The celebrated italian poet Giosué CARDUCCI (Valdicastello 1835 - Bologna 1907) funeral, NOBEL Prize for the Literature in 1906. In this photo the funeral procession passes by Via Santo Stefano to San Petronio church in Piazza Maggiore and after to Certosa Cementery. Carducci died Feb. 16 at his home. All Italy as the mourning for the death of the poet bard of the Risorgimento. At the funeral the horses that carry the coffin at the Certosa have hooves bandaged. Piazza Maggiore and many private houses were hung with black. The lights are lit along the path and"trimmed crepe."A few days after the house and a full library of the poet are donated by Queen Margaret in the City of Bologna.
