1929, San Francisco, USA : The avantgarde american dancer, choreographer and journalist GEORGE CHAFFEE (1907 - 1984), photo by De Forrest, San Francisco. After the dance in Europe with Michel Fokine and Mikhail Mordkin became a leading star at Metropolitan Opera Ballet in New York in late 30's. Founder of his dance company for 30 years in New york with scholar like ALICIA ALONSO and JOHN GILPIN. In late 40's wrote the column BALLETTOPHILE on the DANCE MAGAZINE. Know for his huge ballet collection (prints, books, sculptures, painting other) gived to New York Public Library Dance Collection and to the Lincoln Center.
