1872, Vienna, AUSTRIA : The french writer EMILE PICOT (1844 1918). In 1875 Émile Picot set up the chair of Romanian, the first in Western Europe, at the School of Modern Oriental Languages. He would teach there until 1909. Alongside his teaching work, Emile Picot devoted himself to thestudy of medieval and Renaissance French literature.
