1940, FRANCE : The Nazi Germany soldiers after the attack to french MAGINOT LINE frontiers in may-june 1940. Photo shot by a unknown geman soldier when with other comrades visited the places conquered at French troops, now totally defeats. While the fortification system did prevent a direct attack, it was strategically ineffective, as the Germans invaded through Belgium, outflanking the Maginot Line. The German army ran through the Ardennes forest and the Low Countries, completely sweeping by the line, defeating the French army and conquering France in about six weeks. At same time the germans conquested Paris.
