1920 ca, ITALY : The celebrated Opera italian Soprano singer ROSINA STORCHIO (Venice, 1876 - Milan, 1945). After studying at the Milan Conservatory, she made her debut at the Teatro Dal Verme in 1892 in CARMEN by Bizet, followed by LA TRAVIATA by Giuseppe Verdi. Her first appearance at La Scala in 1895 in Massenet 's WERTHER marked the beginning of a brilliant career that was to see her sing in all the major opera houses in the world. She sang in the world premières of Ruggero Leoncavallo 's ZAZA' and BOHEME by Giacomo Puccini, Giordano 's SIBERIA, Puccini s MADAMA BUTTERFLY and Mascagni 's LODOLETTA. After a highly applauded final appearance in Madama Butterfly in Barcelona she retired from the stage in 1923.
