1933, USA : The german World Champion Heavyweight boxeur MAX SCHMELING (1905 - 2005), a real popular hero in Nazist hera. Was heavyweight champion of the world between 1930 and 1932. His two fights with Joe Louis in 1936 and 1938 were worldwide cultural events because of their national and racist associations. In this photo at time of training for the match with american boxeur MAX BAER (1909 - 1959) at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York, the day 8 june 1933, and loss by Schmeling. The fight was in front of a crowd of 53,000 (with another 3,300 with passes).
