1943 ca, ITALY : The Tenente di Vascello ENNIO SURIANO (Pianiga, Venezia 1916 - Ocean Atlantic 1943), Comandante in 2a of Sommergibile ARCHIMEDE. On the twelfth war patrol Archimede was sunk off Brazil (Isle of Fernando de Noronha, 350 miles from Natal, Brazil), by United States Navy seaplane on 15 April 1943. A single survivor was rescued after spending 29 days in a life raft. Forty-two men found death into Archimede, 25 was safe on 3 lifeboats but without food and water. In next 15 days 6 men dead from hunger and thirst. The day 1 may disapeared the lifeboat with Comandante Guido Saccardo and Comandante in Seconda ENNIO SURIANO trying to reach a distant ship view at orizont. At last the day 8 may 1943 (27 days after) a safelife with only a man at board (sottocapo Giuseppe Lo Cocco, aged 25) was found by a brazilian fishing boat.
