1959, 12 december, Stockholm, SWEDEN : The celebrated italian poet SALVATORE QUASIMODO (Modica 1901 - Napoli 1968) aged 58 year-old awarded the 1959 Nobel Prize in Literature the 22 october 1959 receive the award from King Gustav of Sweden. With Quasimodo (center with moustache in this photo) with others Nobel winners: (from L to R) Professor JAROSLAV HEYROVSKY of Czechoslovakia (CHEMISTRY), Professor EMILIO SEGRE (Segré 1905 - 1989)and Professor OWEN CHAMBERLAIN both of U.S.A. who share the PHYSICS Prize, Professor ARTHUR KORNBERG and Professor SEVERO OCHOA both of U.S.A. who shared the MEDICINE Prize.
