1707, GREAT BRITAIN: EDWARD 1st Earl CLARENDON (1609-1674) Lord and High Chancellor of England, Chancellor of the University of Oxford. Frontespice of his HISTORY OF THE REBELLION AND CIVIL WARS IN ENGLAND BEGUN THE YEAR 1641, vol. 1, printed at The Theatre, 1707. Loyal to the king, he built the royalist cause and served as the chief minister after 1660. Was the maternal grandfather of two monarchs, Queen Mary II Stuart (1662-1694) and Queen Anne Stuart (1665 1714).
