1937 ca, CHICAGO, USA: The British-born conjoined twins sisters Daisy and Violet Hilton (1908-1969) dressed in costume and make-up for the stage, return from a long tour in Europe with American immigration inspector John J. Conner, swear allegiance to the United States Constitution in front of an immigration customs officer for obtain the US citizenship. The sisters play a role into the celebrated movie FREAKS (1932) by Tod Browning. They were exhibited in Europe as children, and toured the United States sideshow, vaudeville and American burlesque circuits in the 1920s and 1930s. In 1936 Violet married gay actor James Moore as a publicity stunt. The marriage lasted 10 years on paper, but it was eventually annulled. In 1941 Daisy married Harold Estep, better known as dancer Buddy Sawyer, who was also gay. The marriage lasted 10 days. In 1951 they starred in a second film CHAINED FOR LIFE by Harry L. Fraser, an exploitation film loosely based on their lives
