1926, late July, NEW YORK, USA: The silent screen movie actor RUDOLPH VALENTINO (born Rodolfo Guglielmi, 1895-1926) boxing with FRANK O'NEILL (1875-1958) on the roof of AMBASSADOR HOTEL. Frank Buck ONeill was a sportwriter, celebrated ex-football player and coach, who was very close to celebrated boxeur Jack Dempsey, the heavyweight champion, a dear friend of Valentino who arranged to have boxing lessons with him when a Chicago anonimous journalist criticized the actor like an effeminate" Pink Powder Puffs". ONeil then volunteered to take on Valentino in the ring, and the actor quickly agreed to fight him the following afternoon on the roof of the Ambassador Hotel. The next morning, reporters arrived at Valentinos suite, only to see him decked out in an orchid bathing suit and lavender lounging robe. Valentino and ONeil met on the roof, with reporters and photographers attending, and despite ONeills promise that he would not hurt the star, he popped Valentino on the chin with a left. The actor responded by dropping his larger opponent with a left of his own. Somewhat stunned, Valentino apologized and helped the writer to his feet.
