1850, NEW YORK, USA: The most celebrated swedish singer soprano JENNY LIND (1820 1887), often known as the Swedish Nightingale. Engraving souvenir, printed in 1854 by Sarony, with J. One of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century, undertook an extraordinarily popular concert tour of America beginning in 1850 organzied by famous manager and Circus showman P. T. Barnum, in 93 large-scale concerts around U.S. She toured Denmark where, in 1843 writer Hans Christian Andersen met and fell in love with her. Although the two became good friends, she did not reciprocate his romantic feelings. Lind was adored by famous composer like Robert Schumann, Hector Berlioz, Giuseppe Verdi and most importantly for her Felix Mendelssohn
