Married with the KING OF FRANCE Louis Philippe I (1773 1850), leader of the Orléanist party, member of the cadet branch of the Royal House of France and a cousin of King Louis XVI of France by reason of his descent from their common ancestors Louis XIII and Louis XIV of France. Marie-Amelie was the seventh of nine children of Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies and Maria Carolina of Austria.As a child, Maria Amalia's mother and her aunt the Queen of France Marie Antoinette arranged for her engagement to Marie Antoinette's son, Louis Joseph Dauphin of France, the future king of France but dead young during the French Revolution in 1789
