1675 ca, FRANCE: The ORTENSIA MANCINI Duchessa di MAZARINO (1646-1699) aka Hortense Mancini Duchesse Mazarin. Portrait from XIX century by Delpech. Was the favourite niece of Cardinal Mazarin chief minister of France and a mistress of Charles II King of England, Scotland and Ireland. She was the fourth of the five famous Mancini sisters who along with two of their female Martinozzi cousins were known at the court of King Louis XIV of France as the Mazarinettes. She was born Ortensia in Rome, to Baron Lorenzo Mancini and Girolama Mazzarini. Married in 1661, aged 15, to one of the richest men in Europe, Armand Charles de La Porte de La Meilleraye (the couple have 4 sons). The marriage was not a success. Hortense began a love affair with the sixteen-year-old girl Sidonie de Courcelles. In attempt to remedy his wife's 'immorality', her husband sent both girls to a convent. This tactic failed as the two plagued the nuns with pranks. From the male son of Ortensia (Paul Jules de La Porte, duc Mazarin et de La Meilleraye, 1666-1731) descending the Princes of Monaco and actual Prince Albert II GRIMALDI of Monaco
