1613, GREAT BRITAIN: The british Sir THOMAS OVERBURY (1581-1613) aged 32 in 1613, poet murdered with poison for his verses at time of King James I Stuart of England. Portrait engraved in 1823. known for being the victim of a murder which led to a scandalous tria l. His poem" A Wife", which depicted the virtues that a young man should demand of a woman, played a large role in the events that precipitated his murder. Killed by his close friend Robert Carr 1st Earl of Somerset, why Overbury dont wanted his marriage with Frances Howard, Countess of Essex, daughter of the Earl of Suffolk
