The Private First Class military PETER REPPELE (or Seppele) from Brooklyn, New York, with the Red Cross girl GAY SLOANE, from New York City, introduces the winner SILVANA MANGANO from Rome. Absolutely rare and unseen photograph shoot by undentified photographer of United States troups in Italy. Raised in poverty during World War II, Mangano trained as a dancer and worked as a model before winning a" Miss Rome" beauty pageant in 1946. This led to work in films; she achieved notable success in Bitter Rice (Riso Amaro, 1949) and continued working in films for almost four more decades
