The analysis and valorization project is off. An important collection, one of the first that will be accessible on FAF website and on the new digital platform of Tuscany Region.
Vincenzo Balocchi is a relevant photographer in the Italian and international history of photography, known in the Thirties as a modernist photographer, he also worked at Alinari Brothers’.
The archive consists of 11 photo-albums; 5.492 prints (including vintage and Alinari reprints); 451 negatives on glass; 3.081 negatives on paper (black and white and color), as well as color slides and has been hardly explored so far.
Vincenzo Blocchi Archive (1892-1975) was listed as a particularly relevant collection by the Scientific Committee of the project “Digital Ecosystem for Culture of Tuscany Region” in the framework of activities on photo archives, in agreement with Fondazione Alinari.
The experts appointed by the Region and coordinated by Prof. Tiziana Serena started the analysis and study of the context and the drafting of the operational project of cataloguing and digitization.
